Why flying east from west is 10% faster than flying west from east?
Such as the flying time from Hong Kong to NewYork is shorter than the flying time from New York to Hong Kong.

Can anyone give me an explanation?

Generally it should be quicker travelling eastward due to the prevailing jet streams and coriollis effect in Northern Hemisphere?

Could be territorial routing issues especially if they route to NY from HK via polar route
