I agree with Muttley. The last thing we need the Clubhouse coffee shop is to be somewhere that serves microwaveable food. I'd love it to be a great wee place that serves wood-fired pizza's, international beers and a variety of freshly made tapa's.... but I understand this is Hong Kong and hence rather unlikely. But I'd prefer a juice bar or something with fresh foods rather than pre-packaged fish balls and chicken legs.
Of course, if you mean that by coffee and cake there's actually a second outlet of Novotel's excellent wee coffee shop in Citygate, then I do apologise. That I would be happy.

reopen of the canteen is on the way, I have discussed with MO and clubhouse management, it will have several steps, first to provide coffee and cake, if the response is good, then will have self-served system like microwavable food we can get from OK and 7-11, clubhouse will run the food counter and all revenue will go back to our estate fund, price will be reasonable cos it is not profit-generating propose but serve owners instead. thx.
Yet again someone has decided what's best for us. Do we have a say or are we going to get a low rent version 7/11 and the smell of fishballs wafting around the place? I want a cafe as much as the next man but for God's sake can't we do something a little better? It will just be an annex of 7/11 and the school canteen Franchise it out to someone with a little more imagination. It should be an asset to CC not an eyesore. Stick to hounding the MTR Jeff, you clearly aren't a HK Gordon Ramsay hi mate, It has been more then someONE, actually, MO, OC, CLubhouse and even myself have received many requests wanting the cafe back to service, so clubhouse company has tried to get things move on. Please feel free to express your idea if you object this idea. I believe we should listen to resident voice, including yours, then get a balanced decision that is good to CC and serve the majority of owners view. Thanks. As mentioned, first step is only cafe and cake, basically no special smell will be generated (unless certain people don't want coffee smell in a cafe), and if owners want more and support the second step, then the canteen can expand to have more offers. Please feel free to be one of the someones who give idea, offer help, and take action if required. thanks again.

no problem my friend, and understand your concern. I understand fishball kind of food may cause smell and I think this is a valuable advice. I agree that coffee and cake or even fresh juice bar maybe good options. I just want to improve our CC and all constructive suggestion should be considered. Again, I am nobody to MTR cos I am nor OC/DOC or anyone in power, but I will keep suggesting ideas to MO. thx agian.

This is a multicultral estate and whilst some may think that fishballs stink others would find coffee offensive.
So, let's all be inclusive not exclusive, if we can...

....wouldn't mind there being a table next to each entrance so that you didnt have to balance 5 heavy things whilst trying to find your Octopus card...but could put your bags down for a moment and do things in a civilised manner....

Wow I never even thought of the elevator issue. I assumed that there is some brilliant computer program doing all the work.
I so agree...
1-Clubhouse has a coffee shop / bar / restaurant. 2-Removal of the indoor ski park and installation of a kids play area. I think there is enough contained room for the children to play. 3-Bigger, better gym can expand once the play area is moved, needs better ventilation.

I worry that if the cafe is self serve who is going to clean up after people, be responsible for breakage or injuries and that sort of thing?
I'd like to see glass recycling. I was very happy to see the MTR green day this past weekend.

MORE THINGS i WANT TO DO FOR CC:
1. Reduce the management fee & Increase the operational surplus without giving up our living standard, or at least start to build the foundation of it immediately! 2. Push MTR to pay its unpaid manage fee of about $6 millions of phase 2,3,4,5 3. Monitor HK-ZH-MC Bridge construction to ensure minimum environmental impact 4. Appoint independent accountant and legal advisor to Caribbean Coast 5. Monitor tendering process for fair competition, quality improvement and real market rate 6. Concern the building defeats and maintenance matters 7. Enhance the communication and cooperation with other estates in our community to fight for common goals in transportation, education and environment, etc. 8. Run more recreational activities and enhance the clubhouse service quality 9. Recommend a monthly Tung Chung flea market in the garden area, bringing chances of used trade, owners forum, environmental friendly and social/non-profit/family-day/kid-loving activities for a better community 10. Fight to stop high density building on plot 54, 55a, 55b, 56 in the future to protect our real estate value and living standard 11. Introduce non-profit child-keeping service to Caribbean Coast residents 12. Introduce non-profit Chinese Medicine service, keep the current mobile pet vet service that I helped to organize years ago, care our kids, retirees and all your “family members” 13. Introduce free legal advice service to residents of Caribbean Coast, care your legal needs 14. Run a multi-cultural group to discuss estate and community matters in English 15. Suggest to improve our landmark clubhouse further by 8 methods below: i. Increase newspaper and magazine variety (including English titles), it serves a large proportion of clubhouse users with relatively low cost ii. Enhance the phase 2 clubhouse facilities to offer convenience to phase 2,3,4 owners, especially elderly residents iii. Introduce toys to kids and consider take-home option in step 2 iv. Provide 1 more table tennis table, 1 snooker table, 1 electric mahjong table and 2 more gym machines v. Reopen the café canteen under the management of clubhouse with non-extra-profit intention to run it, so prices can be reasonable and all revenue will be entered into our estate account instead of any businessman vi. Allow the beach volleyball court to also be used as kid beach football playground vii. Run open days for climbing area to share individual trainers’ expensive fee, etc. Total investment will be under $100,000 (i.e. 0.1% of our annual cost), return rate is 100-200% PA with breakeven period between 6 months to 1 year.

I would like the licensed bit but the best we can hope for is probably Starbucks/Pacific Coffee style with wraps & muffins. Anyway still much talk & nothing happening. Just like the hole in gym roof where the area is cordoned off due to "work in progress" Jeff, can you give some thought to relocating the gym to the indoor ski slope? The current air conditioning is crap and because of open plan would cost fortune to fix. The ski slope (if really needed??) could take gyms place but personally I doubt many would miss it's passing. Also children play areas could be in clear sight of reception staff instead of hidden by gym. New gym would be much bigger, with hygienic floor and better aircon. It also would be detached and away from quiet reading areas. I am sure MO will give a thousand excuses why not but you seem the persistent type.

I personally think that your idea is great, I will talk to MO and CLubhouse manager about this issue and see if we can do something together to improve our estate, meanwhile, your support is needed so I can have you to enpower me to work for you. Please come to the AGM of phase 3 on 15/9 8pm, or give proxy to JEFF LAM YUET by 13/9 8pm. Lets work together for a better CC!!!! THX!!!!!
