This is one thing I'm looking forward to having around in Citygate - a Starbucks coffee shop coming soon!

A perfect space for a new bar with plenty of outside sitting area and good foot traffic--oh well

Groan

Exactly my reaction.

The seemingly irresistable allure of Starbucks mystifies me. The fact that it will be occupying space that could have been taken by a more useful business - a nice pub with good food, for example - just compounds my disappointment.

The complete lack of imagination concerning our version of Tiananmen Square is mystifying. I suppose Swire's target market in City Gate (crossboarder shopping trips) justifies the bland brands, but what of the vast open space past the fountain---zero chairs/tables for sitting out in nice weather (maybe even sipping a cool one--God forbid).
