You realize that TC is in Hong Kong right? I am sure there are plenty of places in the world that would show the movies you like, in English. If this is a deal breaker for you then move...

and English is not an official HK language, or is it? out of 8 could have done with 1 or maybe even 2 english screenings a day, especially seeing how amazingly busy the shittygate cinema is. At the end you realize TC has a very international audience - like it or not.

Hmm, I was just trying to help you out. Maybe you just needed to vent, ok.
I don't work at UA CityGate but if you are upset perhaps you need to tell them. Otherwise how would they know unless they read this forum?

my reply was to chubbya, I have friendly requested why there was no english version available at citygate, and I did check if it was available elsewhere, and it is (limited) available at Elements (also megabox) . The weather was too good this weekend and the kids too tired in the evenings, so we'll keep it for the next rainy day.
great replies as in 'if you don't like it move on'

Friendly? Maybe you should re-read your original post. In any case I have a low tolerance for people who live in a foreign country and expect things to be just like back home. Perhaps you aren't one of these types of people but from your post it sounds that way.
Maybe it is a business decision to only show Cantonese, who knows? If only a small percentage of English only people attend the showings and little or no native Cantonese speakers attend the English showings it may not be profitable.
By the way you didn't actually ask a question. And even if you did Bethechange makes a good point: Try the theater management I am sure they would have the real reason. Your post didn't come across friendly to me and just seemed like a rant.

I guess this is the sort of that that makes people do illegal downloads...

Motivates me to check for English, write to managment or just wait for it elsewhere but to do illegal downloads, no. I get your point.

well, yeah, it motivates me too that way cos you can't beat the cinematic experience - even with all the munching, rustling of papers and sometimes chit chat!!!

UA Customer Service Hotline: Please contact Cityline Customer Service Hotline: 2314-4228 (Mon – Sat: 10:00 am - 10:00 pm; Sun & Public Holidays: 12:30 pm - 10:00 pm), or email to cityline@cityline.com.hk I also put my comments/complaints in writing and send here: http://www.citygateoutlets.com.hk/miscellaneous/contact_us/Pages/contact_us.aspx?lang=ENSo far they reply by e-mail or phone call. I have seen issues changed in response. It is worth a try, especially on kid type movies. They might not realize it is an issue. I called the UA # and after a short discussion the agent said that we should all e-mail our concerns to: enquiry@uacc.com.hk He has handled this sort of request before and said people need to let the cinama location know they need English. Ha, sounds too easy. It will take 2-3 days for a reply. I don't have kids but I'll send the theatre an e-mail.

as a community with about 35% non-Chinese residents, it is good to have at least some English sessionS especially the big titles.
