There seems to be 3 dogs to every maid walking them these days. The dogs barking on the balconies can be heard from yards away and the smell of urine is worse than ever. where will it all end?

It's out of control. And as usual no enforcement of existing rules etc. Walkways around CC are paved with merde, especially in the early morning; going for a run is like crossing a mine field. Situation not helped by CS residents bringing their illicit mutts over to CC to do their business - as if we don't have enough anti social dog nuts of our own.

Hi. I agree with all of you. I like dog's but i hate those who have dogs that are not responsible. Sad that i cannot vote on the poll for some reason's. See my vote below.
"Yes and the barking and smell is way out of hand so the MTR should put people first for a change"
Sometimes Dog's smells very very very Bad that you want to puke when you get into the lift with these dog's and their owner. Wonder how it's like in the flat or living in the same floor. Sometimes you don't know whether the dog smells or the owner. Owners allow their dogs to make noise (Barks) for hours, maybe owners are out Partying. And when they walk their dog's specially at night, pee(s) and poo(s) are left uncleaned....so that's the reason why you these in the morning. I call it "IRRESPONSIBLE".

I do understand other resident's issues with dogs in CC. I have two dogs, that are well-trained, as I have trained them to not pee or poo until we are across the road and into the bush area. And even then, I pick up their business. It's not hard, people. Dogs can be trained. Unfortunately, many of the owners here are too lazy to bother training their pet (or toy, depends on your definition). However, I do get annoyed with blanket statements that say things like all owners are cr*p and their dogs are worse. Really? That just p*sses me off. I'm a responsible dog owner. My two dogs add value to our family. They do not irritate anyone else, with excrement or noise. In fact, I would argue that the residents smoking under the No Smoking signs on the walkway are more annoying and irritating and have more of an affect on my life. Oh, and the annoying neighbours and their numerous guests, who go past my front door, YELLING at the top of their Chinese lungs, at all hours of the day and night, waking my toddler from his very-needed sleep.....they are more annoying.

KJ, I think the problem is that dog owners like you are in the minority. Most owners are not conscientious as you are about their dogs, but are self absorbed anti social a**holes who think the world is just a great big outdoor toilet for their pet. And they recognize no limits - I routinely see them bringing dogs into areas clearly marked 'No Dogs' like the new park across the road and they get irate when they are corrected. Dog owners have destroyed the attractive little park in front of CC. Who would let their child play on those grassy areas - so rare in HK - when you know they are used as a latrine by every dog in CC?
I also agree about the other anti social behaviors you mention. But that's HK - 'f*** everyone else, I'm doing what I want' is pretty much the common mentality.

Not sure what tower is affected. I'm in Tower 15 and I'm a dog owner. My dog is very quiet and well behaved, I don't smell urine or anything like it in the elevators. I used to live on the 46th floor in Tower 6 and they had a loud dog that barked all day and night. I feel most pet owners are responsible and the few that are not make it difficult for others. Pee and poo should always be cleaned up and dogs should not be playing and going to the bathroom in the parks where children play. People just need to be responsible. The HK locals seem to contribute to most of the noise pollution, always talking loudly in the hallways no matter what time it is. Sometimes I wish people in HK would just shut the hell up. If you're on a train or bus you have to listen to loacls and domestic helpers talk on their phone at the top of their lungs.

Pirate, yes good for you. Your observations are entirely reasonable I think. I agree that most dog owners are responsible it only takes a few bad ones to upset the non-dog owners. Overall, I think it all works very well in CC. I do challenge people if I see them NOT cleaning up after their dogs. If more people politely pointed out that mess should be cleaned up then hopefully offenders would respond reasonably. Coming on here and ranting doesn't sort out the problem, really does it?
People do need to be reasonable. All that shouting and screaming is hard on the ears and seemingly so unnecessary. I guess the shouting is a result of escalation as each one tries to be heard above the hubbub.
Fun, isn't it?

I moved to CC in the full knowledge that residents are permitted to keep dogs. I enjoy living here, so why would I want to leave?
I fully support Gary and Pirate. And if you could spend a moment or two to research my own views on the subject in my posting history (somewhat dated but still valid), I am sure you will agree that you and a few others are overstating the situation.
Again, may I suggest you seek an alternative place to live where you will undoubtedly be happier.

Yes agree 100% , the smell when you walk along the staircase at phase 1 is terrible , i have noticed the problem is that most dog owners are not bothered to take the dog for walk themself , they just leave it to their maids , who are least bothered , once they get out of house, they constantly chat on mobile phone & let the dog do the job..... Its request to all dog owners , if you cannot handle & look after dog yourself , please donot opt to have one... Ofcourse i see a lot of Dog owners who keep their dog very tidy

Yes, having domestic help does make too many people lazy - not only with regards to dog responsibilities... For just one glaring example, how many 'parents' outsource their parental duties to a foreigner, whom they do not even know.... I find it bizarre.

Are we talking about children or dogs? May be better to open a new post for children to avoid the confusion I am not a big fan of dogs myself (and no, I won't explain why, just my preference). Having said that, any one who moves to Caribbean Coast is well aware that dogs live in the building. In fact, as many have pointed out, its pretty much the only building in TC where dogs are allowed. There is always going to be some amount of mess created by dogs, cant do anything about that in a practical world. Sure, in a theoretical world, every one picks up their mess and the whole place smells like a flower garden. Having made an informed decision to move to a building where dogs live, I think its a simple Shut Up or Move option. Its a bit silly to go around complaining. Same as its silly moving to within 5km of the runway and complaining about air pollution caused by planes.

Kowloon and that place smells like a sewer six months out of the year... and it has nil to do with dogs. I count my blessings living in TC.

Oh how I enjoy reading this forum. Weren't there some activities held to help w/ this? Pet club at the clubhouse and pet info. days? Could we take photos of offenders to report or have flyers made up to offer them (two or three languages please, maybe cartoons?). Maybe we need more of these activities to teach good habits. Anyone want to organize, suggest?
Ask our Tung Chung town magazine to do articles.
I've noticed improvements by foreigners, locals but not so much w/ helpers. I notice people dilluting the urine (water/vinegar or maybe just water) and picking up the poo. I walk after dark in the evening and many a helper is camped out w/ the cell or friends while the pooch lingers nearby. Perhaps the owner does not care but it is still their responsibility.
I have had management respond to both my complaints of a barking dog and the neighbors in the hall. I find it pretty peaceful. There are worse options so I am thankful. Don't give up.
