I finally had what everyone else seems to be having there - a bad experience.  Went there last Sunday at around 3pm and found that there was a private BBQ being arranged, but rather than put the BBQ in the area where they have the outside kitchen and now seems to only be used to store the staff bikes and old beer kegs, they decided to put it in the only bit of sunshine in arguably their best tables in the house.

We decided to stay and sat nearer the bar (in the shade and the cold) and waited for nearly 10 minutes before someone actually gave us some menus.  The whole time the manager was standing almost watching us and everytime we motioned to get some service he nodded his head, smiled and tried to catch the waiters eye.  Did it occur to him that he could possibly have taken the order himself?

After another wait we asked him where his staff where and he said he only had one person on.  So we left.

If it was going to take 20mins to order a beer, god knows how long before we would have eaten.

Over we went to the new pizza place and had a fairly decent meal.  Just a shame they don't have an attractive sitting out area as it does feel like you're in an empty car park....

Has Zentro changed hands then as it does seem to be a different place.

Calling the cops on your customers - an interesting bit of customer service even in a place notorious for poor customer service.

It would be a shame to lose another F&B (especially the 'B' part) place but Zentro seems intent on driving every last one of its few remaining customers away.

I think it is new management--the owner I remember had glasses and was usually around either watching the footy or staring into space--laid back guy who was cheerful....it was some time this year that it changed. I remember going in on a Friday or Saturday evening and being confronted by the entire bar covered in unwashed glasses; really hard to get a drink and when it came it was wrong--i remember a stand off between some regulars and the manager about a widely inaccurate bill. It then seemed to improve, but whenever the new manager/owner is there, the atmosphere cools......

I am at a loss to understand why anyone reading this blog would inflict on themselves even the possibility of such poor service.

I mean, why go there?

Mr Market will 'talk' eventually--investors in the bar will want to know why there has been such a dramatic fall in custom--esp in a captive mkt like TC--then hopefully install a manager that understands the concept of 'service' in the service industry. If the pizza place seizes this opportunity and installs a nice sitting-out area, they cd clean up.

I agree, Resto would clean up given the psychodrama playing out at Zentro.  I've found all the staff at Resto to be very pleasant. It would be great if they put in some attractive outdoor seating - no need for anything as elaborate as Zentro's jungle, but some nice tables and chairs, plants, maybe some of those heaters for winter. I'd be there - nice pizza, some pints of Stella, what could be better?  Grin
