Amazing how few postings there are in the restaurant section and that is because the restaurants here suck big time. When are they going to realize that 35% of the residents in Tung Chung are foreigners. All of the places under the Caribbean Coast cater to the locals. You know you have lousy food when you admit that Starbuck's Coffee probably has the best food in Tung Chung lol. The food court has many different restaurants but the food is not good at all and the trays are dirty. The only decent restaurants are in the airport hotels and they are expensive.

Oddly enough upon moving to Hong Kong I appreciate the diversity of food, even in Tung Chung. I sometimes get frustrated that I don't speak Chinese or the server does not speak English but we normally sort that out.
The places in the Caribbean Coast are Chinese cuisine (and I eat at Buddy's) but the 88 (if it is still there) sells things that are not; good sandwiches & salads made fresh. Zentro is hit and miss but I've had many good meals there, yummy soup & have friends who come from DB to eat there. We also go to the places at the Novotel which are good. The Sky City Nine Eagles golf course has a good Thai (Erawan) place although I know some are fans of Melody Thai. There is also Handi Indian. The last three mentioned have free transportation to/from their locations. I also go to the airport for the juice bar or the little Japanese place in the corner. I like the new Japanese place near Taste. I've only eaten at the place near the base of the cable car once but it was okay. The wine bar below UA cinama has some good food also. I've not eaten at any of the other places over on the square. There are also a few places that offer a CC resident discount, maybe someone else has a list. We always ask.
If we get bored maybe every few months we pop over to DB which has an ever changing array of options. Specifically what type of place are you wishing was in Tung Chung?

I personally do not eat at any of the places under the Caribbean Coast. i realize it is a Chinese city but 35% is more than a third of the population. I hav e not been to Zentro's but have heard complaints about their terrible service. My wife and I will try it and see for ourselves. I went to resto's yesterday and they have a nice variety of food. The Spring Rolls with Chili sauce were good and my wife liked her Greek Salad and Lasagna. I'm Italian-American and my mothers' lasagna is insanely delicious so I never eat Lasagna outside of her house lol. The lasagna looked like your typical fast food lasagna. Like I said being Italian-American I judge Italian food on at a higher standard. I tried the Margherita pizza and it was mediocre at best. The cheese seemed more like cheddar than Mozzarella. Many pizzerias even in my beloved NYC make the mistake of putting too much cheese on their pizza. I will definitely go to resto's again and try other dishes. There food was not bad at all but there do not seem to be any stand-outs here in Tung Chung. Very true, the hotel food is good but more on the very expensive side.

As someone who was once by marriage in a very large New York Italian family, the food anyplace else will never be as good as at your mother's. And God rest your soul if she finds out you think otherwise! If I find a noteworthy Italian place in Hong Kong or nearby I'll let you know. Personally I've already had enough Italian food to last me a lifetime although I agree that sauce cooked four hours with love does taste better than the stuff out of a jar. I am not the foodie in our family.
We are the healthy type so we already ask for very little if any cheese on a pizza, thanks for the tip on that and the the Greek salad feedback. You do realize that some people have no clue on what type of cheese is even on a pizza don't you?
Enjoy your adventures.

I have to agree, the shortage of options is really frustrating at times. It kinda makes me think of starting a small food delivery service that would serve comfort food. Meals like Baby Back Ribs, REAL fried chicken, an occasional gourmet viand like cordon bleu or coq au vin, Pasta made with fresh ingredients. So don't be surprised if you guys receive a menu from me soon I think it would be nice to have western and good fusion dishes food cooked and delivered hot right here in CC.

Damn right I'm fussy about my food. If you like eating garbage feel free. Personally I like to have some options for good food. Even if it is good fast food. Feel free to continue supporting those crappy Tung Chung restaurants. I'll go to Taste and cook my own food.

Hi Asia, I actually meant the Western food by Fifi. I noticed you already have your own thread. Understand you want to make business, but there is really no need to post your number twice in three posts. If people read this forum they will find your post and information. Thanks.
