This may be old news to some but I haven't seen a thread on it..... dissapointed to see that Bistro Delifrance will be taking over the old Aviator space according to the billboard in the square.  There goes the opportunity to have a decent bar / restaurant in that place rather than simlply having another of sub-standard Hong Kong chain-restaurant food.  We really are spoilt for choice with Pizza Hut, Spaghetti House and now Delifrance (again).  Mmmm....mmmm....mmmmmm

Delifrance has been operating in there for a few months. Menu evidences pretensions to it being a real restaurant, but the food is what you'd expect from Delifrance, only with 10% service charge. Tried it once, won't be back.

I agree with you that it would have been great to have a decent bar / restaurant there, but obviously we are not the market being catered to.

spaghetti house chemical taste, real shame as the layout is quite nice.

here's another killer - as soon as the kids got their plates the waitress has the bright idea to give them both a balloon - that was fun!

What you missed was not the hype but the lousy food. The only thing good at DelFrance are the onion rings lol. In one of my threads I mentioned we need a Burger King for fast food, Crystal jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao for Chinese food. I'm adding a pret manger as well. They have nice soups and sandwiches. We most certainly will not have an upscale restaurant in TC but at least we can have some places that may be remotely enjoyable.

McDonald's appears to have a monopoly on fast western food in TC. They took the space upstairs at Citygate from a KFC, which has never reopened anywhere else. Given how popular KFC is on the mainland and the millions of mainlanders flocking to Citygatge, this is pretty surprising to me.

Closest Crystal Jade is the airport, but there's also one in Tsing Yi (it took over the Pizza Hut space there). I love that place.

I like the Olea (?) at Novotel and the Thai place at the golf course but I wouldn't complain if a Pret moved in!  To be honest when I am in a rush I get a steamed bun or something from the Food Republic.
