Hi Jeff,
this sounds good, but the most important is when we can take Photos inside the club house??? Did you know that photos are forbidden?? This is ridiculous, it's a club house, with kids, family...

The gym should also open much earlier, like 6am. Thanks.

if the gym get's bigger, what is giving the space away? Probably the kids playing area, which makes sense in one way, as to put all the little noisemakers away behind glass
if the 'indoor ski area' is not used - why not just take it away ?
if the indoor carting track can only last for 20 minutes a day, why not get proper cars/batteries/chargers or just let it go?

the carting track is big enough to host 2 badminton or table tennis fields. That will keep the squash courts in better condition.

agreed on the opening in the morning, 6am for the indoor pools would be great as well

Can we get the gym into a separate room please so that those of us that use it don't have to hear screaming kids running around and people lazing around reading papers - it doesn't do much for motivation.

And for those who don't, we don't have to smell the gentle wafts of fragrance usually associated with people perspiring....

@ Jeff, this is such good news.  I can assume this is the result of the clubhouse/resident meeting held some months ago?

And fear not as I did as tactfully as possible explain the conflict of play area/ gym area. Play area/ reading area.  Play area and the whole area becomes play area.  Kids playing inside w/ outside voices while I try to work out is not pleasant.  We had stopped going to the clubhouse.  Jeff chaired the meeting and we also discussed putting the play area behind the glass so I hope this is the case.  This would be good for the children, especially those that easily escape their charges.  It would also make the reading area quiet enough that you could read and the study room usable.  Thanks to Jeff for working on this.

yes, everything is on its good way to improve fter seeral meetings of our special clubhouse working group is formed. about the space, no worries, we will make good use of the existing "under-used/non-functional" area to place new facilities and free up other space for gym, etc.

CC has one of the biggest clubhouses in HK, many of our residents eithr retired, or care family life with kids, or working in the airport who fly then stay several days in HK to use the club facilities, so I suggested the DOC to form a clubhouse group then lead it to a better way.

Thx for you all's suggestion, contribution and support.

Regards,
Jeff

If it s an outdoor court, although we have to go through the red tape of government requirements, it us still possible but just takes time. If to build it indoor door somewhere, it will be a lot more difficult in terms of paperwork and finance. Thx

I really support everyone here who suggests enclosing the gym.
The kids screaming drive you nuts!
Its bad enough to try and motivate yourself in a gym where people have no gym etiquete. sitting on machines/benches in between sets and therefore not allowing the gym to be utilised, or basically not having a clue what they are doing and just taking up space.
Not putting towels on seats and not putting weights back after use.or placing every single dumbell around their feet.
Using the Smith for hours to do chest press and do nothing else.

Anyway, the kids screaming are annoying.

not as annoying as puffing & sweating joggers  Grin

I read in the newsletter the small clubhouse is actually a skate rink! At a cost of $3 or 6 million a year. If the ice rink is too expensive due to the electricity, why not make it a roller skating rink??

What small clubhouse?  Do we have those in CC?  I thought we only built the biggest and...... for some reason best doesn't quite fit here.

Perhaps some of the gym users need a reminder on gym etiquette such as we don't need to see your pits or stomach or hear your phone conversation.  You are right on wiping down those machines and using a towel.  I once thought it was me that stunk but to my surprise it was the bench I was using.  Isn't there something written somewhere? It would be a good article in our glossy CC and also My Tung Chung.

It is obvious common sense to wipe down any piece of equipment, people don't need signs they all know this.

Like the dog problem, lead by gentle example is the best way.

Also, people rarely tidy up after themselves either... I mean, how much trouble is it to put things back where you found them?
