CC Club - Only in HK...
«

I dont mean to wine, but I just can't help myself.
Yesterday I went to the CC Club office in Central to get a new Bus Card and buy some tickets for the CC Bus.
I handed over my card and was told
'your card is not the primary card so you can not renew without bringing along the primary card for verification purposes...'
I replied with:
'Here is my HK ID Card, that should do.'
The responce was:
'No, we do not recognise this for verification as it was not issued by us...'
I had to smile at the thought of the HK Immigration Department been told that their identification Card was not recognised by the CC Club Bus Company. I added:
'I do not have it, I want a new card and some new tickets.'
To which the nice lady said:
'This is not possible without the primary card.'
I reponded with:
'alright then, I have lost the Primary card, may I have a new one.'
The responce, in true Hong Kong fashion was:
'if you have lost the primary card you have to pay HK$100 or HK$120 and fill out a new application form for a new one.'
This was getting anoying so I said:
'alright, forget the other Primary Card and forget this card, I will set up a new acocunt and I will have the primary card.'
To which she responded:
'if you want to do this you wil have to fill in a new application form and bring along you lease, ownership papers etc... and pay a new application fee.'
In other words start all over again.
At this point I asked the nice lady:
'Can I borrow your sissiors?'
I then cut the card I had in two.
'You cant do that,'
said the nice lady.
'Too late, its done, and by the way... I think I'll take the MTR...'
I stood up and walked out...
The point is I olny use the CC Club Bus once in a blue moon as I find it easier to get the MTR. From what I can see the CC Bus has little business so I would have thought they would be delighted to have customers... rather than making it all but impossible for someone to use it.
If anyone reading this is part of CC Club Managment how about making it easier for residents who want to use your service as I am begining to understand why you have such terrible patronage...
O' and by the way, your busses smell...

Can't say I'm that surprised by the jobsworth attitude of the CC staff. The lady in the TST office is very nice...
But as for the Central buses not being that busy, I must disagree. They are often full. Pity the poor folks who are turned away - the 7:30pm one in particular.
The TST ones are usually very empty - and they are more of them too. Why oh why...
My agent told me that the MTR doesn't like the buses; it wants a monopoly out there. They only run because someone found a loophole in the CC Clubhouse regs. The MTR would like them to stop but should realise many people would move out if they were stopped (have discussed this with other passengers). So, far from encouraging passengers, there is a strong sense that the opposite is true.
So yeah it's a bother with the officialdom but it's 35-40 minutes to/from Central on the bus compared to an hour on the MTR (I always seem to have to wait for the shuttle bus and the MTR).

I had another experience: since my card was applied in Central and I tried to renew it in TST since I was there at that time.. They would not allow me to do so and I need to go to Central just to renew the card..

how about getting a shuttle on a daily basis? No need to pay CC. If we could get 14 people and set a time... any ideas, I would be up for taking a daily seat...

Ben,
Same thing happen to us when we plan to join tennis club in the cc club. CC Club staff asked us to fill up the form with the our photo. We showed them our resident card/octopus card with photo still they can't accept.

Same if you want to pay Gym membership on monthly basis. New Card every month with photograph and some bizarre reason new membership No. Can't pay earlier than 25th of preceding month or for more than one month at a time because illogically they don't want the cash in advance or to reduce admin. Similar tedious practice for car parking places and their refusal to set up internet payment facility.
Surely it would be easier to link to resident Octopus as at other MTR residential locations but who am I to criticise because as an owner I passively condone and fund this general incompetence. The management are small minded and at best inept but until the owners shake off their current apathy and vote in even the smallest numbers to set up Owners Committees they will continue to have no voice in the decision making process.
P.S. Don't even think of declining the unnecessary paper bracelet as the Gym Police won't have any of it. Perhaps they would be happier if we all were tattooed across the forehead to make their jobs easier?
