Thank you for replying.
I am not certified. Nor have I had much experience. However, I have done some work at Kiangsu & Chekiang International Primary School in October '07. I was a teacher-assistant there to a group of year one students.
As for the method, I am a student myself, and I enjoy classes that are both educational and exciting. I think good communication is very important between students and teachers and I'd encourage them to ask me questions and not shy away from it.
English: I would help them learn through filling in the blanks, writing stories, reading out loud, drawing pictures to match words, making general conversation to enhance speaking skills, etc.
Math: I would give them a couple of examples at the start of the topic, showing them how to do different types of questions encountered in that section. This is something my own Maths teacher did and I found it extremely helpful, as I always had a reference to look back to when I was stuck. Then, I would give them exerices to do on their own. The students can also do some timed questions. This helps the student try a little bit harder to defeat their old time, and it's also quite fun.
Nowadays there are various word and maths games and I wouldn't hesitate to add in a fun game before the end of the lesson either.
Lastly, I am just trying to utilise my spare time. It has nothing to do with me being greedy. I understand I have not had much experience but there is always a starting point.
Good Response. This shows that you have personal competance. Teaching what you know is not as easy as personal learning, unfortunately. I congratulate you on your spirit. Good luck and have a good summer.
