We need the kind of shuttle buses that other apartment complexes have. Please see the link below. These buses are much more spacious and can hold the same number of people because there's standing room. There are also large bins in the front of the bus to put your luggage/groceries, and there are seats in the front for the elderly. http://www.pitcl.com.hk/eng/html/bus.htmWe currently have two kinds of buses - mini bus and tour bus. Neither are well suited for the purpose. Both are so cramped that it's cumbersome to get in and out. That's why people just sit in the front and don't care if they are sitting in the yellow seats. They know that if they sit in the back, it's a slow process getting out. There's also the problem of bringing groceries or shopping bags on board. The aisles are so narrow that it's hard to get to your seat if you're carrying bags, especially if the bags are heavy. Then you have to carry the bags to the back because the front yellow seats are filled already. As property values are going down, Caribbean Coast should make these minor changes to improve the quality of life of residents and show new buyers/renters that it's comfortable to live here. Everyone knows that the biggest drawback of living in Tung Chung and Caribbean Coast is the transportation. This one minor changes will make a huge difference in everyone's quality of life. You may think that it's no big deal, but trust me, once you ride the buses in the pics you will see how the existing buses are totally unacceptable.

Well said.
I have been advocating this for a year now. There is a meeting of home owners at 8pm tonight (Thursday) in the club house. Come along and voice your concern. I hope that when the bus tender comes up for renewal we will give it to a bus company that provides us with what I call 'low riders.'

Can we have the bus drivers shut down the engine while they stand outside to have a smoke ? Recently if I'm not mistaken there's a new law that penalizes drivers who don't shut off idling engines when parked.
The engines should be idling when people are boarding the bus not when they are parked (near to where the TST & Central bus shuttle bus stops are) and drivers take a break or have a smoke
Is anybody in the MO enviromental friendly or just pure ignorant in every possible area ?

do you need to be an owner to have your opinion matter at these meetings? i can't make it but this is something that almost all residents will support if put to a vote. what is the next renewal date? gosh i hope it's not too long. Well said.

what does the owner's committee have to do to mandate it? if it has been discussed before, why hasn't any action been taken?
c'mon, these low riders will make a huges difference for everyone. don't let the mtr be cheap and dump the old buses on us. as a corporation, replacing the buses will cost them next to nothing.

Should we come up with reasons why not to implement new buses so that we know what the pros and cons are? 1) Too Low... makes it too easy for grannies to get on the bus. <edit>heres the link to another bus thread: http://caribbeancoast.org/forum/index.php/topic,737.0.htmlWe also discussed the implementation of the short bus of Phase 1 on a higher frequency which could potentially reduce wait times.

If we must keep those ridiculous buses can't we at least put luggage in the luggage compartment in the side of the bus? And why oh why do they have such tiny aisles, big britchiks like me haven't got a chance of getting to a seat without smashing everyones head with my ample behind

The rump brush isn't as bad as the BAGsmack. If a person sits in the early rows on the aisle during rush hour, the likelihood of getting a bagsmack in the face increases.

Today, I saw that buses going to Yat Tung are those nice, new low riders. Yat Tung is public housing. If public housing can use these buses, why can't we?

Mate - those low rider buses to and from Yat Tung are run by the NLB. They aren't privately run shuttle buses. I don't think any Govt. Estate in HKG runs their own free shuttles.
